Ive noticed on some of the new bows on the string close to the cams and idler wheels there appears to be two nocks crimped on to the string with some heat shring over them, what is the purpose of this, and if there is a benefit could you do the same to a bow that dosent have them from the factory. Thanks for any input.

Hello,those are called speed buttons,they suppose to give a few more fps,ive never tried them but they been around awhile.Some people likem some dont.

They are exactly nock points and shrink tube. I love the fact that they gave them a specific name (Speed Buttons! ha). as the string travels after the release the extra little bit of weight at the end of the string whips the string forward. properly placed and weighted they can add 5 to 7 fps. Not all bows respond the same so you'll need to experiment with the placement up and down the string. Experiment with the number count of the nocks too, some bows respond better to three nocks while others only one seems to work best. The shrink tube is totally unnecessary but it gives it a finished look!

Along with what bow bender said it will do you no use to experiement with how many or their placement unless you have a chrongraph. The speed difference is something your eyes cannot see.
