1. ## Martin Limb Numbers

I've read different treads on the subject here and on AT. What do the #'s mean? 5L, 5H, 4L... I read on one post that the letter means L-low, M-med, H-high. I have 5L on my 09 Cheetah 55-70 DW 29 DL. Does anyone really know how the number-letter system works?

2. The combination of a number and a letter gives you the information about the limb deflection. With Elite Archery you have a number of three digits, with Martin you have this combination.

Each combination is possible and each combination leads to a different draw weight on one bow. But 5L on a cheetah for 70lbs do not mean that you can get 70lbs with a 5L limb out of a MOAB and so on.

Every number stands for a step of 5 lbs upwards or downwards.
This means:
4 - 65 lbs max
5 - 70 lbs max
6 - 75 lbs max

Every letter stands for a difference of 2-3 lbs.
This means:
5L - 70 lbs max
5M ~ 72 lbs max
5H ~ 75 lbs max

5 lbs. not 10 lbs.

4. Sure.

As you can see it was just a mistype in the sentence. The example is still right.

5. ## Thanks

Now it makes sense. This should be a sticky!

6. So if I wanted to order 60# max limbs for my Cheetah I would ask for 3L right? And would I need to change anything else?

Absolutely.

Nothing else to change. Just the limbs.

9. So, what would it mean to switch out 2H limbs on a 08 LH Martin Firecat to 6L limbs from an 08 Martin Leopard and could it be done?

10. No reason why it couldn't be done. Use the math you've been shown here. Your 5L limbs are 55-70. 6L limbs would be a 5# step up so the bow would become 60-75#.
