String & cable problem..

I'm trying to correct cam lean, but, when I do correct my cam lean, and start shooting, my cable string starts to rub real bad on the module. So, I end up taking the twist back out of the (Y) cable... How do I keep from ruining my cable string, and correcting my cam lean?

Second: Check if your limb tips are equal if you have no tension on the limbs.

Is this with the S4/furious? That should be a long enough bow that cables rubbing the cam shouldn't be a problem. If it is then maybe convert the bow to a Furious X system and this will definitely take care of that problem.

If it's one of these ultrashort bows like the Cheetah then I'm afraid you'll have to live with one or the other. The angle the string comes off the idler to the cable slide is just too much to get a clean roll onto the module. Such is one of the problems with these short bow and present cam designs.

Now Martin would just change the module a bit and machine the grrove on a slight angle to match the string angle this potential problem wouldn't be one. I honestly don't have an answer to the angle coming off the backside of the idler wheel except to quit shooting single cams. Most of them have this problem.

Yes, its a S4/furious dual cam)..., I thought I was doing something wrong or have something on the bow wrong. I kept taking the lean out, and the module kept getting worst(rubbing of the cable). So, think I'll just find a happen medium and leave at that....

On the "X-system", I just can't convince myself it will be alright to use one for "hunting only bow". Guess its just in my head....

I use my SlayR with x system as a hunting & 3d bow, it works great! and i don't have any of the problems you get with a rod & slide,

I aslo hunt with a Shoot-thru Slayer, Have had no problems with it.

I have a 2005 ShadowCat SE with Nitrous X cams. It works OK and you never have cam lean problems or the resultant cables rubbing the module, because although they are pulled to the side as they attach to opposite axle it is a much longer stretch so the angle isn't as severe.

I can't say what it eould be like on a Furious cam, but I imagine it would be similar.

As the two guys above me said, it's not that much of a hassle nocking an arrow. I've seen some guys say that you have to be real careful threading a broadhead between the cables, but that's what I would expect to hear from someone who has no experience with X cams. You don't even try to go between the cables with a broadhead. You load it from the front backing the nock end through the cables and onto the string. It's only a couple of inches and once you shoot one for a while it becomes second nature to do it in an efficient manner.

Another benefit of X cams is that the bow is much easier to tune as everything mounts right down the middle of the bow instead of a string groove that is offset. If there is not enough room between the cables for fletching clearance then Martin makes an axle kit that has 2 longer axles and the necessary bushing to convert it. Easy as pie.

Maybe something for you to think of after this season.

You are right Fisher, the Furious X cams are similar, I have both, and to get More clearance for vanes, I use one long axle on the bottom cam, this also gives me some space between the cables so they don't rub each other.

The x-system is something to ponder for next year, its way to close to hunting time(Oct 1st.), to get into anything new this year. I will check them out much closer come next year.
But, do have questions about the change over: Will this setup have a problem with me shooting with fingers(?), and, would I need two axles verses one axle for shooting with fingers? I would think I would need more room for the feathers(4"gateway feathers), as I release the arrow?

Now ya got me. I was going to say that I have shot GT 22 series with 4" feathers with plenty of clearance, but that was with a release. Fingers might be a different story. Just not enough finger shooters around to get a comparison.
