Smile Martin Jaguar recurve- OK to seal limbs?

Another rookie question here. Sorry. On my Jaguar takedown, I noticed the edges of the laminated limbs are not sealed. Will it do any damage if I seal the edges for hunting in inclement weather? It appears as if moisture would easily be soaked into the wood (bamboo?) the way it came from the factory. I'm not sure if this would cause any problems, but PSE has a similar bow called a "Coyote" and the edges of the limbs are sealed with paint or some kind of film.

If the limbs can be sealed, any suggestions on what to use? Paint? Lacquer? Sparvarnish? Polyurethane?

    Any info much appreciated.

    Thanks, JD

    I'd use sunflower oil.
