Alien Z sight mount screw holes

I started setting up my new Z and noticed that the sight mounting holes seem to be 8-32 rather than the 10-24 that my Sure Loc comes with. When I drop a 8-32 flathead screw into the countersunk Sure Loc mounting plate the smaller head looks pretty flimsy, leading me to wonder how secure that mount will be with the sight mounted...

And there is so little riser material around the holes that enlarging them is out. So what's a poor shooter to do?

I suppose I could use a flat washer with a cap screw...

Any suggestions?

You may also be able to find concave washers if you have a good hardware supplier near you.

The threads are definitely 8x24. This is an industry standard. I would suggest running a tap through the holes to clean out any debris that may be in them.

OK. Went to Sears and bought a thread guage and a tap & die set. (A personal observation here, but if a guy goes to Sears needing a 10-24 tap and walks out of the store with JUST the tap, he is either gay or with his wife. I love that place. Of course that may also explain why I'm no longer married...)

Anyway, I chased the threads with a 10-24 bottoming tap and I can't believe tha amount of crud that was in those two holes. Don't you guys at Martin, er Rytera, ever clean those things before shipping? It's an $800.00 bow is all I'm saying.

Cleaned the threads, mounted the sight, and went off to the range. I think Z and I are going to be REAL good friends.

Tapping the threads seem to be a dealer prep item with most brands. I guess that's why they get the big bucks.
