09 Bengal FPS ??????

I read a Cabela's forum that posted a chart about determining arrow speeds. It listed inchs increments between a 20yd shot and 40yd shot, that were shot using the 20yd pin. The chart claimed that groupings of 15.5 inchs would give you an arrow speed of 300 FPS. I shot groups of about 13 inchs between them. He claimed would get me 320 FPS could this be possible??? The furthest arrows in my average groupings didn't measure 15.5 inchs???? Any input anyone ??? Has anyone else tried this method ??? I put my #'s into an arrow speed calculator and it came up around 300 FPS....

I used this chart a few years ago to check it's accuracy against readings I got with three different chronographs. Without going into a whole lot of detail the chart showed 30 fps faster than those chrono's. So much for calculations. You want accuracte speed readings? Use a well lighted cgrono and be donw with it.

Thanx B !!!! I don't have access to a chrono but 30fps less would put me at where I thaught I would be.... One of these days I'll get her in some where to check !!!

check out Gander Mtn, at their indoor range they have a chrono, but call ahead to see if it's working. Might cost you few dollars for the use and time. Or next weekend I might be out a Sangchris and I usually pack my chrono. I can send you a msg if the gander mtn thing doesn't work.

Thanx Ray, I was just in Gndr mntn yesterday ??? I have a pass for GM shooting range to get me in anytime for free!!! Got it at NWTF benefit.... Can I use the chrono with that ????

not sure, I think it's a $5 for 1/2 hr? sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I ended up just buying my own thru Midway and I'm glad I did. My friend has your draw length and shoots about 64# and he got 271fps with carbon express max 250s @ 29" and 100gr field pts. Same arrow I got 268 using my Inferno @ 60#s.
