Bow is loud

I have a 2008 martin bengal thats loud when it shoots. Its brand new with the factory string leeches. What is the best thing to quiet it down without losing alot of arrow speed?

i added a sts to my bengal. made a big difference.

I only use catwiskers (half of one piece each end of the bow) on my 2007 Pantera. Very quiet. Also do a forum search, there have been noisy Bengals reported here before.

rotate your cam back and shoot heavier arrows. Thats what i did to quiet mine down.

for me, I took the leeches off. I have a CCS & STS. A limbsaver on each limb and that's it. Quiet enough for me.

Most Martin bows are usually very quiet if set up properly. One of the first things to check into is cam orientation. Something to check is the string groove where the string rides. There should be about 3/4" of groove showing where the string comes off the cam. If there is too littlve left then the cam is over rotated and extra vibration and noise is often the result.

Next would be to check every nut, bolt, screw on the bow paying special attention to those on or holding the accessories. Never rule out the accessories themselves. Cheap ones just aren't built as solidly; part of the price you pay for having a rusty wallet.

One not asked or mentioned is a quiver. Do you have a detachable quiver on the bow? If so then take it off. The only time you really need it is when you are hunting. Other than that they are just another source of noise.

Your bow, being a 2008 model does not have the CCS. Don't worry about it. It won't fit your riser anyway. As the other guys mentioned, just put some cheap Cat Whiskers on the string about 4" from the cam and idler. And make sure you are shooting an arrow of at least 5 gr/lb of draw weight to absorb some of that energy the bow transfers to the arrow.
