Trust me, you don't want the black one. The one you are referring to as silver is actually Teflon coated stainless steel so there should be no problem with rust.
Are you aware that there is a set screw to tighten it in place? Maybe it's working loose. If so then you can use #242 loctite to secure it.
Seriously though, If you want a better shooting bow altogether, especially the ShadowCat, put Nitrous X cams and cables on it. Then you waon't need the cable guard at all.
Couldn't have said it better myself!!! Nitrous X is the only way to own a Martin bow.
