Just got watch the news myself. They say there's been about 30 aftershocks. Tsunami washed as far as 6 miles inland. Total devastation in it's wake. Estimate of 1000 dead. No U.S. casualties reported.
U.S. Navy on the way to help with humanitarian support. I'll bet drinking water and temporary shelter will be primary.

Local Tsunami update;
Tried to get into town, Calif Hwy Patrol turned us around, road closed at the Little River bridge, wouldn't let me get out a grab a photo, either, sure the parking lot at the LR beach is awash, had no idea when Hwy 1 would be open again. The wave at Cresent City got over 6 feet, that much at the bridge will flood it.![]()

Japan far from out of trouble... Japan's oldest Nuclear reactor is in peril. Unkown if their retaining wall is strong enough withstand a melt down like 3 Mile Island here years back.

I do not think that it is going to happen a new Tchernobyl. But there is a high potential of danger and the news 15 minutes ago said that they have already a meltdown in one of the two reactors. Let's hope that it stays INSIDE the reactor walls.
And now all the people wonder why i am against that kind of energy.. well...

I'm sure a lot of people will be questioning how safe nuclear power is now.
