How Many Shots To Pre Stretch String Before Peep Installation Are Required?

I have my bow together minus peep. I am intentionally shooting it without the peep to stretch the string before installing the peep to minimize or avoid peep rotation. I read here (or possibly AT) that if you had the time it wasn't a bad idea to do it this way so I am doing it.

These are Hammer Head strings made with BCY Trophy and Gore. I've about 30 shots on the bow now and was thinking of doing about 50-75 shots total before installing the peep. Do you think 50-75 shots is insufficient, about right or over-kill?

MLN, on my Firecat400 I installed the peep when I set the bow up. It's still in the same place after 1500 or so shots. I'd say just go ahead and install it. If it does move, you can always fix it, if not, you are already set-up.

I probably have 50-60 shots on it now. I may try to get to 100 tonight and then put the peep in tomorrow if my buddy is around (He's going to show me how).

I'm with Ehunter. You can always tweak the string later.

Regardless, after you install the peep you'll have to shoot the bow several times to settle the string and check for peep rotation anyway.

If the string was done properly it is already set to go. Most of the HH strings have been really good so far. I'd put the peep in and have fun.

I know the Stone Mt. strings I had on my 2008 FireCat were good to go right out of the box. The replacements I got in 2010 were the same way. Installed a peep with the initial setup and I think somehwere along the line I had to tweak by a half twist. Pretty much the same with my 2010 Alien Z.

My Nemisis has HH strings and it's moved more than I would have thought. I have maybe 150 shots on it and Sunday had to add a full twist as it had turned about 90 degrees since initial setup. Now I have to see if it's stable. It does rotate a bit so I have it offset about 20 degrees to the right. Of course I have new parts coming for the bow so when they get here I'll be starting all over again.
