Why Does My D Loop Keep Slipping?

I tied my d loop on using the Wildman 3 pack loop material. I used a needle nose between it and the string to stretch it tight as I could get it. I noticed that the loop was closing some so I tried to tighten it and it stayed a little while and moved again.

Last night I had someone tie in a peep and he took my loop off and tied in another using a new piece of loop material. His loop slipped farther and faster than mine. His opinion was this Wildman stuff isn't stiff enough but I don't know if I buy that. There are plenty of guys using just the loop with no tied or brass nocking points without slippage, my friend included.

Ideas?

Waxing the d-loop ends wll help the knot tighten up.

Good point SL. When you do it all the time you forget the little things.

I got some different material and some serving. He didn't have any big stuff like in the video. He had BCY 3d Dyneema or Spectra 3-ply .016 (I guess it is a crap shoot but that is what the package says?) I bought the roll, $18, to try make some soft nocking points like I seen in a Kenny Parsons video. Do you think that .16 is too small? I need to widen the loop so I can try some FOBs.

I watched Kenny's video again and his preference is to wax before tying it. I guess I'll try that.

Wax the whole d loop material before tying. This makes the knot tighten much more, when using the needle nose pliers. If the tie nocks seem to small go right over the top of the first layer, with another layer it won't hurt a thing.

Yeah,before tying it and wax the serving where the loop goes on ,don't need alot, just a light coating.Make sure you burned ends are good size balls or the end will pull through
and you will get a good pop in the mouth(personal experience)

Half hitch front Half hitch back continue till you build up the tie nock. Leave a little space between he arrow nock, don't make the tie nocks too snug so you won't get nock pinch.

I thought I was the only greenhorn who did that!

I did it w an arrow nocked and stuck the arrow in the bedroom door. Oops! Got a fat lip out of it,too.

Done. I added some soft nocks and waxed the d-loop before tying it this time.

If I end up doing it again I'll do one thing different, cinch up the bottom part of the loop first. Every time, 3, I tied the top part of the loop first and I'm convinced that it gets the tightest. But the most pull seems to be on the lower part of the loop since the loop is not centered on the string.
