Martin Jaguar Compound?

My son's teacher wants to sell him/us a Jaguar compound bow and I have found no info. It must be older than 2008? I don't want him to pay too much but know nothing of the bow or it's value.

When were they made? What are they worth? Are they a good bow?

Now i may be way wrong but, isn't the jaguar a recurve/longbow?

Martin Jaguar is 32 1/4" AtA, 310-315 IBO,older ones had the Fuzion single cam,newer ones had Mpro cam. It's an excellent bow. It was a $350 bow new,gold series like Cheetah,Bengal etc.. It's a nice shooting bow. Check the serial no. On the limb sticker. First 2 digits are the year. I would say $75-125 is a fair price. I've the owner is asking more than that,you would be better off checking some pro shops for last years models. For example,Right now I can pick up 2010 Nemesis for $450+tax and a 2010 Cheetah for $250+tax. It would be worth checking into.

MBH, it is now in 2011, but didn't used to be. I think they stopped making the Jaguar in a compound 4-5 years ago. Might have been longer than that.

I had a jaguar it was a 2005-2006 i think,had the dyna cam single cam setup,also has a magnesium riser not aluminum.Ibo was like 305fps not a bad bow but not the best.It had a nice fat grip too,really like that.....thats about it.

According to website catalogs the last year for the Jaguar compound was 2007 and it was equiped with the Dynacam. As HawgEnvy mentioned, the first two numbers of the serial number should be the year of manufacture. It was Martin's entry level bow for several years.

Martinbowhunter, you are correct that Martin also makes a Jaguar takedown recurve.

I'll have to see what year it is. I think he is asking more than I am willing to pay. It is ready to use, case and arrows. He wants $450 and I thought that was high before I read HawgEnvy's post.

He is asking too much. If it is a 2008-07 $300. Or less, if it is 2006 or under $250 or less.

$450? That's too much for that set up IMO. If you have a dicks sporting gods near you,check out the ready to shoot pkgs. You can get a completely new set up for that price,give or take. Not to mention it will have a warranty. Cabelas also has these packages available. I'm looking at the Cabela's 2010 and this is what's listed:
Pantera-$499/$599 kit(everything except arrows)
Cheetah Mag-$349/$449 kit
Saber Mag-$399 kit

as you can see,the asking price for the Jag is comparitively high consider what you could have for the same price if that's your budget. I would offer no more than $175 for the Jag with all accessories and arrows. I picked up my '08 Cheetah fully dresses w carbon express arrows for $100. I hope I've been of some help. I just don't like to see people get screwed as a result of a lack of information. Been there,done that,didnt like it.

Ya i would pass on that deal,heck i paid $300.00 for my bow brand new on AT,thats where id be lookin for a bow.
